Cold and Flu Herbal Tincture
This cold and flu herbal tincture is made from high quality herbs and ingredients — some of which may have grown in my garden! If you are suffering from a cold or flu, or other members of your household are sick, start taking this ASAP to help boost your body’s own immune system to prevent or fight off the bugs! THIS IS THE TINCTURE TO TAKE IF YOU ARE SICK!!!
Echinacea: Echinacea can chase off or help speed recovery from an acute bacterial or viral infection, especially infections of the upper respiratory tract. As a stimulant for the immune system, it is best taken frequently at earliest onset of acute symptoms or if at particular risk of infection, but not as a daily immune tonic. Stimulates the immune system and improves resistance to infections. Can be used locally or systemically to protect against infection and helps repair tissue damage.
Olive Leaf: In addition to major metabolic and cardiovascular perks, taking olive leaf extract has also been shown to provide antiviral, anticancer, and neuroprotective benefits.
Pau D’Arco: This herb is known for fighting fungal infections, such as ringworm, candida, internal inflammatory conditions, and cancer.
Yarrow: Perhaps most famously, yarrow is prized for its benefits to wounds or minor bleeding. Its mild antiseptic and anodyne properties coupled with its ability to coagulate blood and stop bleeding make it the perfect ally in this case. These properties also make it useful in cases of hemorrhoids, post-partum care, bruises, and mouth sores, as well as internal bleeding. Yarrow beautifully harmonizes blood circulation and can be beneficial in cases of stagnation such as varicose veins or fibroids, as well as cases of overstimulated blood flow, such as hypertension.
Rose Hips: Rose hip contains a number of important antioxidants (including vitamin C, vitamin E, beta-carotene, and lycopene) that are beneficial to your health. Alternative practitioners also believe that rose hip can prevent or treat a wide range of gastrointestinal and inflammatory symptoms.
Red Clover: A sweet, cooling and tasty herb, red clover is clearing and mildly nutritive. It has affinities with the respiratory, circulatory and lymphatic systems and is known as a relaxing expectorant and a “blood cleanser”. It has a reputation as a remedy for coughs, skin issues, & lymphatic indications. Also has phytoestrogenic properties.
Astragalus: A classic energy tonic that improves physical endurance by helping the body adapt to external stressful influences. Has been used since ancient times in traditional Chinese medicine as a warming (yang) tonic. Thought to control body fluids such as excessive sweating, night sweats, and relieve fluid retention.
Elder Flower: Internally, Elder flower has been used across time & cultures as a cold and flu remedy that helps sweat out a fever and ‘release surface heat’ (as they say in Traditional Chinese Medicine). Elder flower tea can also help loosen and bring up phlegm in upper respiratory infections like influenza, bronchitis or sinusitis. Elder berries, like the flowers, can be useful to progress fevers and move respiratory catarrh. Elder has been scientifically recognized as an effective treatment for colds & flu, and some findings imply that Elder has direct virus inhibiting actions on the level of the cell membrane.
Herbal tinctures as medicine
Why are tinctures a preferred method of taking herbs? Because tinctures are potent! You don’t waste your money on pills that have been in the manufacturing process for months / years and lose potency! With an alcohol base, the tinctures pull out all the medicinal benefits of the plant, and preserve them naturally for you! They don’t lose potency over time.
With that being said, they are in a non-gmo vodka base. Which is fine for most people. But some people prefer to avoid alcohol in all forms. (even by avoiding real vanilla extract) and we support that choice. These tinctures aren’t for those people. Because of the potential for bacteria to reside in glycerine tinctures, we have decided to only offer vodka based tinctures. These herbs are edible and considered safe for most people. Some people may be allergic to certain herbs and should not use them. It is always best to consult your doctor before using any herbal product if you are taking prescription medications or have a health condition.
